A Chat With Jesus

Jesus: Hello. Did you call me?

Man: Called you? No. Who is this?

Jesus: This is Jesus. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Man: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

Jesus: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Man: Don’t know. But I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic. It’s rush hour all the time.

Jesus: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Man: I understand. But I still can’t figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

Jesus: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Man: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

Jesus: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Man: why are we then constantly unhappy?

Jesus: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.

Man: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

Jesus: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Man: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.

Jesus: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Man: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

Jesus: Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Man: You mean to say such experience is useful?

Jesus: Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Man: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can’t we be free from problems?

Jesus: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.

Man: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading.

Jesus: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Man: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

Jesus: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Not knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing the road ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.

Man: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

Jesus: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Man: What surprises you about people?

Jesus: When they suffer they ask, “why me? When they prosper, they never ask “Why me” Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Man: Sometimes I ask, who I am, why am I here. I can’t get the answer.

Jesus: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Man: How can I get the best out of life?

Jesus: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Man: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

Jesus: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

Man: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the day with a new sense of inspiration.

Jesus: Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don’t believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived; Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all the others…… including Love. One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island until the last possible moment.When the island was almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help. Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love asked, “Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?” Richness answered, “I’m sorry, but here is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be no room for you.” Then love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel. Love cried out, “Vanity, help me please.” I can’t help you”, Vanity said, “You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat.”

Next, Love saw Sadness passing by. Love said, “Sadness, please let me go with you.” Sadness answered, “Love, I’m sorry, but, I just need to be alone now.” Then, Love saw Happiness. Love cried out, “Happiness, please take me with you.” But happiness was so overjoyed that he didn’t hear Love calling to him. Love began to cry.

Then, she heard a voice say, “Come Love, I will take you with me.” It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder.

Love then found knowledge and asked, “Who was it that helped me?” “It was Time”, Knowledge answered. “But why did Time help me when no one else would?”, Love asked. Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is.”

Left Brain? Right Brain? Which one should we listen to?

Lately, I was pondering a lot due to some frustrations. Usually if I am on this state of mind, I tried to resists it by reading a lot and replacing my frustration with thoughts that strengthens me. As my wisdom is concerned, everything is a thought that you carry around you. Happy thoughts create a happy molecule while otherwise creates the opposite. While I was working on empowering, the question above pops out in my head. Are you ready to learn with me to get the right answer?

Well, we will start by knowing what this two does. We have what we called Ego which is located in our left brain. Its job is to calculate, figure things out, analyzes, and comes up with the most logical choices for u. It basically thinks, thinks, and thinks! Basically, if you exclusively listen to this side, you ultimately will turn into a pretender or even worse, a commuter-getting up in the morning going with the crowd, doing the job that bring the money and pay the bills; and getting up the next morning and doing it all over again. Meanwhile, the music inside of you (passion) fades almost to a point of being inaudible.

While on the other hand is the Superego which resides in the right brain. Its job is to represents your intuitive side. It is the part of us that goes beyond reason and analysis. It is also the part that feels things, that’s sensitive to love and sensitive to our emotion on what's important to us. It is also the one that allows us to tear up as you hold your baby, or bask in the beauty of a glorious day. The left brain basically analyze it, while the right brain lets u feel it. Now, we know the difference.

Now, the question is that which one is always right? For instance- you’re in the process of embarking your path or in the path in anyway. And you want to do something that would lead you to your purpose. Then, suddenly you hear something in your head that says, “Wait a minute. Be careful, don’t take risks, you might fail; you might disappoint all of those who have a different view of what you should be doing. Then, you know that was your left brain. But here comes the presence of your nagging little creature that sits on your right shoulder and always reminds you of what is your purpose of being here for? It prods you when you’re spending another day doing what somebody else has dictated if it’s not a part of your passion in life. It’s also the one that always hear the music and constantly tap you on your shoulder. Basically, it’s the right brain that always lead you passionately to your purpose.

Now, I know which one I should listen to. How about u?

Isn't it life is beautiful? Though we are face with challenge in everyday of our lives, I still wouldn't change my perception that life is beautiful in many ways. I normally express it through blogging. I find a lot of relief in writing especially if I am working toward a goal. Anyway, I probably was bored in writing. So, I came up with something different this time through video blogging. I was amazed when I first release it on face book.; many of my friends made a comment and said that it made them laugh. Well, I didn't know it will turn out to be funny but I sure was glad that I somehow entertained them. I'm looking forward in making some more soon while working towards my goal.

while I was browsing around trying to find something else that uplifts my spirit. I so need it right now. This video perfectly speaks to me about timing. I’ve been through many trials and surpassed a lot of them. Now, I’m in the path again where I want something so bad and I want it certain time and been doing it my way. It’s really kind of aggravating to the point that it makes me want to pull all my hair when you don’t get the result you wanted. Sometimes things just don’t work the way you want it. You can think all kinds of negative things toward yourself due to your disappointments. But you really can’t linger on that for so long because I knew that success doesn’t lie in that point of view.

So, I will wait and keep working toward my unreached goal. Probably have to remind myself over again that God is in control, not me.

Types of Eukaryotes

Eukaryotes are organisms that have a membrane bound nucleus that houses DNA. As what I have learned, eukaryotes have many levels of cellular complexity compared to prokaryotes (bacteria). Aside from having a true nucleus they also exhibit compartmentalization that allows a cell to carry out specialized chemical reactions in different places. Organisms involved are: fungi, animals, plants, and protists. Below are my compilation of its type for the purpose of studying.

1.) Yeast- Heterotrophic, unicellular, have cell wall, oval in shape, reproduce asexually(budding), Class: Ascomycetes

2.) Rhizopus-Heterotrophic, multicellular, aseptate mycelium, sporangiospores, zygospores, Kingdom: Fungi

- are a filamentous fungus frequently isolated from soil, decaying fruit and vegetables, animal feces, and old bread. They are occasional causes of serious, and often fatal, infections in humans. Certain species are plant pathogens as well.

3. Penicillium- Heterotrophic, multicellular, septate mycelium, conidiospores, ascospores, Kingdom: Fungi

4. Aspergillus: Heterotrophic, multicellular, septate mycelium, conidiospores, ascospores, Kingdom: Fungi

4. Chlamydomonas: Autotrophic, unicellular algae, oval and flagellated, Phylum: AlgaeKingdom-Protista.

5. Amoeba: Heterotrophic, unicellular, possess pseudopods, free-living, Class Amoebezoa, Phylum: Protozoa, Kingdon: Protista.

6. Euglena: Autotrophic, unicellular, possess one anterior flagellum, free- living, Class- Euglenozoa, Phylum Protozoa, Kingdon- Protista.

11. Schistosoma: Heterotrophic, multicellular, lack cell wall, flatworm, Adult fluke (head with suckers), Class -Trematode, Phylum-Platyhelminthes, Kingdom- Animalia

12. Taenia: Heterotrophic, multicellular, lack cell wall, scolex (heads) & proglottis (segments) of tapeworm, Phylum-Platyhelminthes, Class- Cestode, Kingdom- Animalia

Journey....

Here I am blogging at 2:00 A.M. after giving my brain a little break from studying all night long. This has been my routine almost every day. Sometimes, I sleep earlier than 2:00 A.M-which is not good. I pretty much force myself to stay up that late to be able to absorb things I need to put in my head. Images above are the books I am studying every day and the courses that I need to get over this semester. So far with my first exams, I did really good in all of them. As a matter of fact, I have couple of exams that I made the highest. I'm just hoping, I would be able to maintain it. Actually, the courses I am taking right now are nothing compared to what I had previously, especially the Physiology and Math- Oh, my goodness! I did not have it easy. But the important thing is that I passed it all right now standing with the GPA of B. It's my goal to make A's on these present courses. I am so glad I am over with the hard part.

Well, blogging has been one of the things that help me keep up with my journey being a student. I am constantly checking if I am on the right track. I always want to be aware of what to do next and be ready to adjust to any changes that could take place. Overtime, I could say I have handled stress a lot better than before. Hopefully this hard work is going to pay off someday. It would be nice to look back, smile and say, "Those were the days".

Brainstorming for today....

It's a beautiful Sunday morning and I got to wake up late. Yey! I so missed getting a lot of hours of sleep. Almost every day is a marathon for me. It can be pretty exhausting sometimes, but I am really used to it.

First thing, I always do before I get up from bed is to see what needs to get done. But today, I have all kinds of things racing into my mind that is really giving me a headache. I know that if I don't do something about it. It’s just going to get worse. My brain wants to do something and it won't leave me alone until I've made a peace with it. I often find myself into the state of confusion when it comes to decision making. Huh! Why life can't be so easy?

I'm doing really good with what I have and doing right now. It’s just that my brain want to do more than my body could do. This time, I've decided to let my attitude take control over my brain. I've wanted to add another load that I think it would lead me to something faster, though I know that the probability is 50/50. I've come to realize that I am taking a lot of risk of messing things up that I am doing good so far. I am proclaiming today that I am taking things one step at a time. I don't care until when I'll get there. So, brain give me a break. I'm going to need you Monday again to stay focus. LOL!

My Experiment of Microbes

We do know that microbes are everywhere. Well, this is evidence that they do exists. I made this experiment last Wednesday (01/26/11) of this week. My area of choice was the bathroom seat & toilet. I went in there with my agar dish and a long sterile swab to draw into the surfaces. After I collected the samples, I incubated it for more than 24 hrs. to allow the bacteria to grow.

Images above were the result of my experiment. The spots that are formed in that dish were colonies of microbes. If you will look at it closely, they came in different forms which are an indication that they are of different types. Now, I don't have the accurate counting of this because it was so many of them. It would take me forever to accurately count them. I estimated about more than 500 colonies of bacteria and I pinpoint about 8 types of bacteria that I can recognized so far on this dish. It could be more than that. I was so disgusted! It was a pretty cool experiment though. So, you guys might want to think twice before sitting into a public restroom.

A Start....

It was my 1st week of being back in school. I am actually excited because I get to learn new things. It means more knowledge for my precious brain. Today (Jan. 21, 2011) was pretty rough. I got lot of things that happened from the start of the day that really upsets me. I cried a bit because I was so aggravated. But after that I just shook it away with my shoulders and go on with my day. After, I told myself it’s going to be okay. I was back into my normal mode. Late afternoon, went on with my Micro class and actually got excited. I was able to take a look at how various species of bacteria, spirogyra (an algae), and vorticella (a protozoa) looks like under the microscope. It was pretty cool! I also got to play around the microscope and made successful settings without help from our instructor. Yeah, and that makes me feel like a pro! I should be... because I was already taking a lot of biology on top of biology. Hopefully, I will be a biology expert someday. I already love it!

1st entry for 2011

Hi Blog! It's been a while since, I haven't visited u here. I could have lots of entries to write last few months of 2010. But, I got so busy with a lot of things and too busy enjoying my break, while I can. I just remembered u now because it is time for me to gather my thoughts again and get things line up for this year. I 'm truly hoping to put my foot into the right direction pretty soon.

Well, today I got all the books that I need for this semester. I sure am ready to tackle new things again. While I was in the bookstore, I met few of my classmates in the nursing field. I was disappointed to know that most of them shifted to a different course. They said: they could not take the stress anymore. It kind of gives me a second thought. But I told myself...Oh no! You are not giving up. I've gone too far and besides I am doing well so far. Being on this field was never been easy to me or I must say to everyone who is on it. As a matter of fact, there are times that I am in the verge of giving up. But so far, I was able to pick myself up and kept going.

Presently, I am taking two types of biology this time while waiting to get into the program. I really don't need these subjects right away, but I purposely take it because I am thinking of heading to Bachelor Degree. From here on, it's another tough challenge to face because not so many get lucky to get into the program right away. I actually have lots of plan B's but still I find myself confused trying to find an alternative how to get in the quickest way. I do know that there is no easy way on this field. I might as well toughen myself out.

So far, my plan is to take down all biology courses that I need to precede into the higher level. My foot is on that door right now. It's all I could think of that is best to do as of the moment. I could not wait too long getting myself idle. Got to keep this brain working and conditioned to deal with tough matters. Best wishes and good luck to myself in the year of 2011.

Embracing Solitude

Today, I am just brainstorming, doing some free writing, and minding off proper use of language. It is very surprising how good it feels when you get done. I am definitely enjoying my solitude at this moment. I better enjoy it because 3 days from now, I am not going to do it very often due to a hectic life. I finally was able to sit down and start reading an inspirational book. It feels good sometimes that you will be able to free yourself from your every days harried schedule. Hopefully, this will be the start of getting myself into the mood of motivation-to do something I want to accomplish in the near future.

I am very expressive in a lot of things. Even being alone, I appreciate the calmness that I experienced. While embracing solitude I came up with this....

I get to know myself more- that I am crazy and sometimes not. Definitely different from everybody. I guess, part of being unique.
I find out what's important to me and learn to set my boundaries.
I find out a lot of things I am good at- so many to mention
I have the freedom to try out new things-freedom to write the most junk in the world. But I won't do that in the worldwide web. ha ha! I don't want all my secrets revealed out there.
It's nice to take part in the beauty of nature- not to mention my passion in photography and my vainness itself. This is the part I always get in trouble with. I am often the eye of the negative people. So what? I can carry it anyway. They better not mess with me because I'll bite and chew them good. ha ha!
I think I have life my life to the fullest. - I had fun, got in trouble, and learned some lessons.
I can create my own dreams- everyone have the power to do this.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO?

I had a good time partying last night. It would be more fun if others know how to keep their rude comments to their selves. And if you think that the advice you are about to give are helpful to others. It should be given privately and not in front of many that embarrassed and hurt someone. Hope we can learn to know that the pattern we have in our life can’t be the same with others. We should respect other people’s individuality. We all have something special within ourselves, as God made us unique from each other.

When are we going to cut off this mentality that everyone tends to hold? No offense please. We can learn from each other. Life and making a lot of friends could be more fun instead of a dreadful experience. WE CAN DO THIS CHANGE!

After all, we are here to LIVE, LAUGH, and LOVE.

Success - What is It?

Recently, I was verbally attacked by a person whose name I won't mention, as I would like to move away from that incident. However, I thought about the things she said a long while, trying to figure out why she would attack me in the manner she did, when I've never done anything to her, and why she considered herself “successful” and considered me to be “trash”.

It finally occurred to me that she was attacking me because she had gathered more “stuff” than I have, and she felt that having more stuff made her successful. By that, I mean she has a nicer house, a nicer car, and perhaps a bunch of nick-knacks that fills her house, as well as claiming higher education with her “MBA” which she called a “Master of Bachelors in Accounting” (I always thought an MBA was a “Masters in Business Administration”). After meditating about it, I was still puzzled - was this person truly “successful”? Also, since everyone wants to be “successful”, are we supposed to follow her path to success?

I came to the conclusion that Success is not a destination - Success is a Journey! Perhaps the person to whom I mentioned (that had attacked me), considers herself a success in that she has accomplished her goal - that is, she was able to marry an American who pulled her out of poverty and apparently loves her enough to give her things to make her life comfortable and even luxurious, compared to her former life. But, if a person stops there, and doesn't have a new goal to reach, where is the success? Is she content to wallow in her exalted place, and watch others struggle? Hmm, perhaps I can understand her problem now - maybe she sees these people working hard to achieve success, and she is afraid she will be passed up. Her success has turned into a failure in that she is no longer growing, and she thinks she can only maintain her elevated position by belittling others - that is ultimately the saddest thing I can think of! If only she would use the same amount of effort in reaching new goals and helping others - then I could truly admire her for her achievements!

True success is not just obtaining riches - as a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to do anything with riches... true success is working towards a goal, and using the talents that our Wonderful God in Heaven has given us to obtain that goal - and at the same time, helping others to reach THEIR goals! As that great motivational speaker Zig Ziglar said, ”If you want to succeed, just help enough other people to succeed.” And when a goal is reached, have another goal to work toward! The Journey of Success never ends, as there will always be others to help along the way.

So, to all of my friends, let me say how much I admire most of you for your true success -that is, God has opened a door of opportunity for you in allowing you to come to this Land of Opportunity, and you have taken full advantage of this blessing! You are working hard to better yourselves and the people around you, and I applaud you for this.

However, for those who have received this blessing and choose to “sit on their laurels”, as if coming here alone is the epitome of success, and you can only insult those who work hard to make their own lives as well as the lives of others better, my heart breaks for you. You just do not understand what True Success is, and because of that, you may never know True Happiness.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Yehaaa....

My goodness! I'm finally backed into this blog. I've decided to take a summer break. God knows, I needed it so bad. I am just waiting now for the results of my finals and to see if I will be able to get in the nursing program this year. There's so many of us on this field and there is a limit on how many students they are going to take in for the training each year. Just in case, I wouldn't be on the list this year, I already got a plan ahead what I want to do. I am ready to put my foot forward into a different challenge in few months. Right now, I just want to revive my energy. As a matter of fact, I am back working out.... doing my yoga-Pilates. I feel a lot better. These past few days, it was so good to be able to sleep long hours and I was able to pamper myself a little bit. I did paint my nails and went on a little bit of shopping. It was so nice to find time for myself and also some time with my family, especially with my son. They were so glad to have me back. These past couple of years was so tough for me and I couldn't wait to get done very soon.

Well, looks like I don't know what else to talk about. I am just now looking forward to have some fun during this break. I feel like I missed out on a lot of things, but I know it's going to be worth it in the long run.

Well, it seems like forever since I have visited this blog. I think this is my first blog for the year 2010. The start of this year has been good to me and my family so far. We have accomplished a lot, such as we finally got the justice for my dad. It was a tough battle for 5 years. We did not expect to have it but God is good. And another thing is that my sister passed her board exam for nursing. I was extremely happy about it because it was a first sister that I had given all my effort and did not make a detour. It felt like I have accomplished something for myself too because I did sacrificed a lot. I still have to figure out how to help her take the NCLEX so she could travel abroad. But at least the tough part was finished.

Now, I remembered to visit my blog because I am so confused and overwhelmed with what to do with all this things ahead of me. It's getting tougher each time and sometimes I kind of doubt myself because it was too much to handle. I already seek an opinion to my mom, sister, husband, best friend, but the decision is really up to me. So here I am brainstorming again. I am almost done with the things I need to get out of my way such as finishing my minors. This should be my last semester but I am still taking 13 units which is considered full time and at the same time got a job to maintain and family to take care of. Now, I am trying to get into the clinical part this summer which includes the training I need. It only comes once a year. I am already qualified but I have to take an entrance exam to get on it. If I have to take a chance, it is going to be this month of February and I really don't have the time to review because I am still studying for the stuff I have in front of me. Not to mention, I have exams every 2 weeks in all of my four subjects. Basically, I am confused of which, where, and what to start. The fearless side of me which is my Ego says, "Go for it!"... You can do it!... but the other side of my head which is my Super Ego says , "No, you’re not ready yet!"...you could end up delaying your goal if you fail the exam. I really don't know which one of them I will listen. As far as knowing myself, I am hard headed and liked to take a chance but on the other hand, I used wisdom a lot on certain things. We will see what blows my mind! .... To be continued some other day when I feel like writing :)

Reflecting Year 2009

It's hard to believe, that the end of 2009 is upon us. Every year and time seems to be the same but it always has something different to offer in our lives. I find the years seem to go faster. I was wondering maybe because I live my life to its fullest, full of hopes, and trials but I am learning a lot as I go along my way.

I would say that this year adversity has tested me on almost every aspect of my life. But the good thing is that I came out alright as I always do. I have learned to deal with it and won most of the battle with the guidance of my mom's prayer all the time. I've realized that being strong is never easy having to deal with myself and others. I know, I'd wrote some personal things on my blog, that's how I deal with myself being human who are pack with emotions. I find writing to be therapeutic especially when I'm going through tough times. It seems to help me get rid of all the bad thoughts and emotions that has been bugging me and helps me face each new day with positive attitude. It's what it takes for me to stay strong. I don't limit myself to anything including my weaknesses. So, for those people who sneaks here on my blog and make some gossips. I really don't give a darn, because it would not do me any harm. I considered my trials as a joyful challenged instead of a painful process.

Anyhow, things I want to do for this year has been done and I am close to finishing it. Other than that, I am still very thankful having my family over here. Even though we went through some tough times but we have work it out, especially with my sister. Adversity in life is testing her causing her to go astray in life a little bit. Call me a bad and controlling sister but I could not just close my eyes and let her keep going. I did some hurtful things and had said some things I should not say to make my point. We wind up hurting each other. It took her a while to get back on the right track but she finally did. I am now glad and proud of her. She got her own apartment and standing on her own. People who did her wrong are starting to suffer with their own actions. Goodness and hard prayers still prevails.

As to myself, I've learned to forgive and deal people with love and understanding. Even to those that hurt you. I've learned to apply the knowledge, I've learned on my psychology. If I probably don't have the background of understanding human behaviors, I probably will be making situations worse. Emotions are hard to battle if you don't have the wisdom. While I was going through with it, I have to suppress my own emotions just to give way for others. It's really hard! I throw a fret and cried a little bit but after that I was over with it. I guess, all these experiences had made me even stronger. I just hope next year, 2010 will treat me better. LOL! Actually, I'm seriously looking forward to the next chapter in my life and content in the knowledge that 2010 has new opportunities to offer that yet to be discovered.

What Defines Attitude?

The entries below are for the gossipers. Hope they'll get something out of this. Being bored and have nothing to do in their lives. What do you think they're going to be expert of? It is understandable but I do pity them.

Everything begins with the resolve to take the first step. From that action, wisdom arises and change begins. Without action, nothing changes.

So many of life's conflicts find their origin and cause in envy. Envy ruins and destroys people's hearts.

Carelessness, overconfidence and arrogance are our greatest enemies.

Unless we view things with our heart, we can see nothing. If we look at the world with a love of life, the world will reveal its beauty to us.

Not to advance is to regress.

Being pretentious, hiding your weaknesses and failing to reflect on yourself will only limit your growth and potential.

Those who face adversity with hope and the willingness to try their very best don't consider the process painful. People who exert themselves to the fullest and tackle each problem as it arises don't really experience hardships as such; they instead see everything as a joyful challenge.

None of us can exist in isolation. Our lives and existence are supported by others in seen and unseen ways, be it by parents, mentors or society at large. To be aware of these connections, to feel appreciation for them, and to strive to give something back to society in a spirit of gratitude is the proper way for human beings to live.

Gratitude makes a person modest. A sense of gratitude expands the heart.

Make today blossom in the manner most appropriate to the person you uniquely are!

It is not difficult circumstances that defeat one, but one's own weakness.

If you want to understand the causes made in the past, look at the results as they are manifest in the present. And if you want to know what results will be manifest in the future, look at the causes that exist in the present. The reality of your future self is forged by current action, in your behavior now.

Lies are truly frightening, because they not only deceive others but also destroy one's own humanity.

The place where you are now is vital. Never avoid what you must face. Challenge your circumstances and steadily persevere. The path toward victory opens from where you stand.

It is human nature to desire recognition and to want to look better than what we are. When that desire seizes control of us, it is easy to lose sight of who we are and what our real purpose is. Spiritual corruption begins from there. The best thing is to be true to one's heart.

"Dig beneath your feet, there you will find a spring." The place where you are now is crucial. Never try to avoid that which you must do.

When your determination changes, everything will begin to move in the direction you desire. The moment you resolve to be victorious, every nerve and fiber in your being will immediately orient itself toward your success. On the other hand, if you think, "This is never going to work out," then at that instant every cell in your being will be deflated and give up the fight. Then everything really will move in the direction of failure.

The ungrateful feel that it is below them to show any kind of appreciation. They are under the delusion that showing gratitude to others diminishes their own worth. But it is this sense of appreciation that elevates, enriches and expands the human spirit. A lack of gratitude is actually a sign of arrogance.

Those who are always complaining about their circumstances find that success continually eludes them. As do those who speak ill of others or who make excuses for their failures.

It is senseless to blame others or your environment for your miseries. Change begins from the moment you muster the courage to act. When you change, the environment will change. The power to change the world is found nowhere but within our own life.

Life is best lived by being bold and daring. People tend to grow fearful when they taste failure, face a daunting challenge or fall ill. Yet that is precisely the time to become even bolder. Those who are victors at heart are the greatest of all champions.

One of my favorite poets, the Argentine educator Almafuerte (1854-1917) wrote: "To the weak, difficulty is a closed door. To the strong, however, it is a door waiting to be opened." Difficulties impede the progress of those who are weak. For the strong, however, they are an opportunity to open wide the doors to a bright future. Everything is determined by our attitude, by our resolve. Our heart is what matters most.

We have both a weak self and a strong self; the two are completely different. If we allow our weak side to dominate, we will surely be defeated.

If you always have a shallow perspective and pay attention only to trivial things, you are sure to get bogged down in all kinds of petty worries and concerns, and not be able to move forward. Even relatively minor hurdles or problems will seem insurmountable. But if you look at life from a broad viewpoint, you naturally spot the way to solve any problem you may confront. This is true when we consider our own personal problems as well as those of society and even the future of the entire world.

Ultimately, our battle is with ourselves. Whether in our activities in society, or whether in historical, political or economic developments, everything essentially boils down to a struggle between positive and negative forces.

Real optimism should not be confused with a carefree outlook on life, one in which we forfeit responsibility for our lives. The person undefeated by misfortune, poverty, insult and vilification. The person who can bounce back from every adversity and say, "What? That was nothing!" The person who marches on toward hope through sheer force of will. That person is a true optimist.

Some people are overly critical of themselves and become listless and unassertive as a result. Rather than engaging in pointless self-flagellation, young people would do best just being what young people are: bold, audacious and gutsy-and throwing themselves entirely into whatever the task at hand.

Trust is difficult to earn and it is easily lost-the trust built over a decade can be shattered in an instant by one offhanded remark or deed. A person who is not swayed from their chosen path, even during the most trying times, will ultimately find that he or she is trusted by all.

As long as we are human, we are bound to make mistakes. We all fall prey to flawed beliefs and views. What distinguishes a forward-looking person from an intransigent one, a virtuous person from a dishonest one, however, is whether one can candidly admit to one's mistakes and take bold steps to redress them.

It's foolish to be obsessed with past failures. And it's just as foolish to be self-satisfied with one's small achievements. The present and the future are what are important, not the past. ... Those who neglect this spirit of continual striving will start to veer off in a ruinous direction.

Cheerfulness is not the same as frivolity. Cheerfulness is born of a fighting spirit. Frivolity is one manifestation of cowardly escape.

Perceiving Myself

Oh boy! I am now to look back on my past, evaluate my present, and predict my future based on the work I've put in it. I am now to end my psychology course and we are required to present a project about how we perceived each others life transition. I really find it very interesting. And psychology is my favorite among all the courses I took. I was even thinking after I finish my bachelor's degree of nursing, that I would work on being a doctor of psychology. I like to discover things that I mostly enjoy in life and enhance it. Anyway, below is what I have come up for myself.

Perceiving Myself

I perceived my past thru a poem. It was written when I was 19 years old. When I wrote this, I was kind of depressed and trying to be positive and determined to make life better at that point of time.

MY LIFE

I can live through the trials that life may throw my way,

I always stay thankful, day after day.

But sometimes I just want to lie down and die,

for hours and hours I sit there and cry.

Loves and losses, both come and go,

I learned from both, and it helps me grow.

My life isn't as bad as I make it to be,

but sometimes that's hard to see.

I have happy moments along with the sad,

not to mention the frustrating and bad.

But my life is on the right track,

its more or less white rather than black.

I can deal with what life throws my way,

no matter what I feel or say.

I thank God for blessing me,

because when things get bad, I always find a way.

Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way,

my future is brighter, sunnier than gray.

I'm looking forward past the pain,

My future is busy, I have so much to obtain!

Perceiving my present:

I compared my life now into 2 things:

an umbrella (the softer side of me)
a wasp (the tough side of me)

I would say that my life is like an umbrella because I've always been the shelter of people in times of need, most especially my family. I am like the roof over their heads so they don't get rained on. A provider, a leader, and a do-it-all type of person. Basically, I take care of everybody. That is the type of role that I have always run into ever since I became a young adult, and even now. I don't know why- I am thinking that it might really be my purpose in life. It is really hard to do all these things at one time, such as providing for others while you are pursuing your own dreams. But I know in the end, I will be blessed.

I've always been a people person. And in choosing my career, I even prefer something that deals with helping and taking care of others because it's what I am good at. That's why I am on the nursing field. It just felt like this is something that will make me happy and it's something I will do well, while at the same time providing purpose in my life. My present job deals with people that have special needs and I really enjoy it. And I have now made up my mind that this is what I want to do - not only because of the money thing; but it's where my passion and heart is.

And on the other aspect of my life regarding with my personal qualities, I compare myself to a wasp because I can be mean. I can be the sweetest person you will ever know but there is a part of me that you don't want to mess with. In pursuing my goals, I am always determined and will put all my energy into it until I get exactly the result that I wanted, by any means... ( despite all odds!). And if someone will try to pull me down, that person should beware because he is going to get his ass stung.

Perceiving my future:

I look at myself being a nurse and making a difference in other peoples lives. I see myself successful in all the things I am trying to do, such as having a good relationship with family and friends, and last but not the least, being physically & mentally fit. So hopefully, it's a future where I can look back and say I have done all the best out of life and I can label myself being happy and successfully aging.

Conclusion:

I believe that life is like a blank slate that is waiting for you to write something new upon . We are here to provide meaning in our own lives through the choices we make. Life is sometimes a hard road to travel in which we find ourselves in the constant changing, shifting, unfolding, unpredictable, and vibrant journey. Being oneself, takes a lot of courage but in return you will learn to exhibit qualities of fluidity, flexibility, adaptability, spontaneity, and inductive thinking that will get you through whatever hurdles that life may bring. I am very blessed and equipped with beauty, brain, talent, and endurance. I have a high self-esteem and I take pride in everything I do. However, I tried to use my gifts in a simple and humble way. After all, we are here to provide meaning in our own life as well as provide meaning for others. It's what I think life is all about.
